do it yourself carsledding

To make this homemade car sled, you will need

  1. a backseat shelf from a 1991 Ford Probe
  2. two (2) ethernet cables, 8-12 ft. long
  3. a roll of storm window plastic to make the underside slick
  4. copious amounts of duct tape

Here I am, living proof that fun can be had, lo, even beneath the nightmare sulfur glow of a Lincoln Nebraska winter evening. External temperature: 4 degrees.

Despite the fact that Kansas City is just a few miles south of you, the sleding is not nearly as much fun. Maybe you should come down some time to prove me wrong.

I had no idea the tensile strength of cat5 was equal to the task.

Yeah there were some skeptics when I dug it out, but we had no problems, held a 190 lb guy in fact. You gotta wonder if it might still carry a signal...(stay tuned as we construct a small lan between the sled and a server in the trunk)...

You could install some kind of networked controller on the sled, and deck the sled out in lights timed to spell out messages as the entire assemblage moves down the street...

ummmm technically the tensile strength of the cat5 would prevent sucessful instillation of a network controller unless a firewall was lodged firmly into my ass prior to testing. (only dorks could turn hillbilly sledding into a geekfest. not mentioning any names here alan and brennen)

Well, I should like to say that this is the most random thing that I have done in a while. I do however, like to fill my life with randomness and so I thought I would just let you know how i really think that you are a really great writer! No jokes or anything dude. So maybe I'm the big nerd here, but meh, I thought that I may as well let you know.
Peace,
Andrea
