absent-minded

"Shoulders" the professor calls. "Here" says a voice in the back. He makes a check in his gradebook.

"Neck" he says, and a smart-aleck somewhere says "Yo!"

"Head." There's a little silent wave which he notices and records.

"Mind" says the professor. No answer. "Mind?" He pans the room. Absent again. He puts an another X beneath a long column of X's stretching back who knows how long...
