A word I stumbled across the other day in a study about the wife of a Japanese farmer in the 70's:
anomie (a-nuh-mee): (1) Social instability caused by erosion of standards and values. (2) Alienation and purposelessness experienced by a person or a class as a result of a lack of standards, values, or ideals.

Posted by: alan at October 15, 2003 02:03 AMArnold is governor, Roy gets mauled, and MU wins- what is the world coming to? Today in rural sociology we had a guest speaker that talked about food rationalization and it's effects, explotation of workers, unsafe food, and obesity. Of course she was massively overweight, and her talk degenerated into her rambling about food- she was obviously hungry. Very amusing. Lt. Dangle, my favorite character on Reno 911, summed it up best, "That pile of shit would even make Satan weep." As an interesting side not, Mexico startes with "mmm" cause it is soo tasty.
